Quite a lot of former students have become celebrities. Here are a few of them:

 Guy Moquet - 2 Guy MÔQUET was born in 1924. He was a student at Carnot High School from 1939 to 1941. He was a young French Communist militant, during the German occupation of France during World War II. He was taken hostage by the Nazis and executed by firing squad in retaliation for attacks on Germans by the French Resistance. He came down in history as one of the symbols of the French Resistance. The school’s Eiffel Hall is also called the Guy Môquet Hall.

Politicians

 Jacques Chirac Jacques CHIRAC was born in 1932. He was a student at Carnot High School from 1946 to 1949. He is a French politician who served as President of France from 1995 to 2007. He previously served as Prime Minister of France from 1974 to 1976 and from 1986 to 1988, and as Mayor of Paris from 1977 to 1995.
 Robert Badinter Robert BADINTER was born in 1928. He studied at Carnot from 1944 to 1945. He is a criminal lawyer famous for fighting the death penalty which was abolished in 1981 when he was serving as Minister of Justice under President François Mitterand.
 Dominique Strauss-Kahn Dominique STRAUSS-KAHN was born in 1949. He was a student at Carnot High School from 1964 to 1967. He is a French economist, lawyer, politician, and member of the French Socialist Party. Strauss-Kahn became the Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund until 2011.

 Bernard Buffet - Self-portrait Bernard BUFFET He studied at Carnot from 1940 to 1943. He was an expressionist painter.
 Louis Aragon Louis ARAGON was born in 1897. He was a student at Carnot High School from 1912 to 1915. He was a French poet, novelist and editor, a long-time member of the Communist Party and a member of the Académie Goncourt.
 Pierre Nora Pierre NORA left Carnot in 1948. He is a historian associated with the study of New History. He is famous for his work on French identity. He is also a member of the Académie française.

Scientists

 Serge Haroche Serge HAROCHE, born in 1944, was awarded the 2012 Nobel Prize for Physics jointly with David J. Wineland.

 Pascal Amoyel Pascal AMOYEL was born in 1971. He is a composer and pianist whose interpretations of Chopin and Liszt have earned him international acclaim.
 Louis Bertignac Louis BERTIGNAC was born in 1954. He was a student at Carnot High School from 1970 to 1973. He is a French guitarist, vocalist and songwriter. In 1976, he co-founded the rock band Téléphone. In 2004 he produced, arranged and played the guitar on the album of Carla Bruni, former French President Nicolas Sarkozy’s wife.
 Jean-Louis Aubert Jean-Louis AUBERT was born in 1955. He was a student at Carnot High School from 1970 to 1973. He is a French guitarist, singer and songwriter. He has also composed music for the cinema and for television. In 1976, he co-founded the rock band Téléphone.
 Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo Guy-Manuel de HOMEM-CHRISTO was born in 1974. He was a student at Carnot High School from 1990 to 1993. He is a founding member of the French house music duo Daft Punk, along with Thomas Bangalter. He has also produced several works with his record label Crydamoure. Aside from music production, de Homem-Christo has also worked as a film director.
 Thomas Bangalter 1 Thomas BANGALTER was born in 1975. He was a student at Carnot High School from 1990 to 1993. He is a founding member of the French house music duo Daft Punk, along with Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo.

 Jacques Weber Jacques WEBER, born in 1949 is an actor, director and writer. He studied at Carnot from 1962 to 1965.
 Jean Reno Jean RENO was born in 1948. He was a student at Carnot High School from 1961 to 1964. He is a French actor. Working in French, English, Japanese, Spanish and Italian, he has appeared in numerous successful films such as Crimson Rivers, Godzilla, The Da Vinci Code, Mission Impossible, The PinkPanther, Ronin, Les Visiteurs, The Big Blue and Léon: The Professional.
 Anne Roumanoff Anne ROUMANOFF was born in 1965. He was a student at Carnot High School from 1980 to 1983. She is a French humorist and actress.

Industrialists

 Baron Marcel Bich Baron Marcel BICH was born in 1914. He founded the Bic group which turned out inexpensive disposable ball pens, lighters and razors. He became wealthy enough to sustain an 11-year quest for the America’s Cup.
 François Michelin François MICHELIN, born in 1926, headed the Michelin group, the tire manufacturer, from 1955 to 1999. He attended Carnot “classes préparatoires” in 1945 and 1946.
 Jacques Guerlain Jacques GUERLAIN left Carnot in 1887. He was the grandson of the founder of the famous perfume house. He created L’Heure Bleue, Mitsouko or Shalimar among other successful fragrances.

Aviators

 Louis Breguet Louis BRÉGUET, born in 1880, was an aircraft designer and builder, and one of the aviation pioneers. He studied at Carnot from 1945 to 1950.
